The PlayStation is the first Video Game Console build by Sony and a major success, laying the foundation for all PlayStation branded consoles that followed. Over 100 Million consoles were sold until it was discontinued in 2006.
The PS was first released on December 3, 1994 in Japan, September 9, 1995 in North America, September 29, 1995 in Europe and November 15, 1995 in Australia. The rest of the world followed in 1996.
The PlayStation used a MIPS Processor as a CPU.
After the release of the successor PS2, Sony decided to market the PS as the PSone, giving it a new, rounder design. These models were released on July 7 in Japan and in September 2000 for the rest of the world.
Tomb Raider on PlayStation
All Classic Tomb Raider games have been released for the PlayStation:
- Tomb Raider
- Tomb Raider II
- Tomb Raider III
- Tomb Raider IV The Last Revelation
- Tomb Raider Chronicles
These titles can also be played on the successor, the PlayStation 2, and even on the follow-up to that, the PlayStation 3, although there might be compatibility issues with special editions or re-releases. They have even been published as downloads for the mobile PlayStation Portable and the PlayStation Vita.
