The Raising Block (or Raising Column) is an Obstacle in the Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Games. A similar object it the Extending Block that is extended horizontally where the raising block is extended vertically.

Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation
It is is a typical Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation obstacle. It is a block that can be raised or lowered by a trigger. It either serves to get Lara or a movable object up or down, or to block up or clear passages.
Tomb Raider Anniversary
The Raising Column found in Egypt - Obelisk of Khamoon in Tomb Raider Anniversary can be considered an improved Raising Block as known from the Classic era. It is a timed column that is lowered by a Jump Switch and raises on its own once the lever is released. Lara needs to get on top to be taken upwards.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris sees a variety of Raising Blocks making their appearance. Some can be permanently raised by using a trigger, others are equipped with an Osiris Glyph and can be raised temporarily using the Staff of Osiris.
