The Thrall are enemies that Lara will encounter in Tomb Raider Underworld.
Fan speculation
In the second trailer for Tomb Raider Underworld Lara is shown riding a motorcycle through Xibalba where she runs over what looks like a zombie. In recent screenshots released by IGN, these "zombies" can be seen in more detail, wearing what may be Viking armour. Their weaknesses are unknown at this point, but Lara is seen fighting hand to hand in trailers and screenshots, and this suggests that the only way to kill them may be to defeat them in combat.

Lara heads to Helheim after finding the pieces of Thor's Hammer and finds her Mother. To her shock, Amelia has been turned into a Thrall slave of massive power, and Lara must destroy her. Amelia holds out her arms as if to hug Lara, but Lara empties both her pistols into Amelia, sending her back into the void, dead.
