Lara's Therapist

The Therapist is a minor character in Rise of the Tomb Raider. He tries to help Lara overcome her problems after the events on the island of Yamatai in Tomb Raider (2013).

He is never seen in Rise of the Tomb Raider, but Lara can find recordings of her therapy sessions[1] that Ana procured for her assessments on how to get Lara to do as Trinity wants.

Appearance

The only time we see the Therapist in person is in the first announcement trailer from June 2014[2]. He is an older man with grey hair, partially bald, wearing horn rimmed glasses. He is wearing an grey suit.

Character

Apparently the Therapist was recommended by Lara's uncle Atlas[3], with whom he possibly stayed in contact: Atlas seems to have obtained a report about Lara's mental health[4], either directly from the therapist, which would be quite unusual and possibly illegal, as it violates doctor-patient-confidentiality; or Atlas obtained it by some other means, which probably wouldn't be legal, either. This is probably why he recommended this therapist in the first place, "a highly qualified colleague", so that he could continue spying on Lara.

Also, somehow Lara's stepmother Ana seems to have gotten her hands on the recordings of Lara's therapy sessions. It is likely that she or Trinity simply stole these from the offices of the Therapist. On the other hand it might also be possible that she received them from Atlas, as it seems the two stayed in contact and talked about Lara's health.[5]

This all points to a somewhat unreliable character that does not seem too concerned with the security of his files and the well-being of his patients.
