Seth
Seth (also Set or Sutekh) is the Egyptian god of chaos and confusion. He is often depicted as a man with the head of a mysterious animal; sometimes interpreted as anteater. He made his appearance in The Last Revelation where Lara accidentally set him free when visiting his tomb. At the end of the game he appears as immortal boss in the level Temple of Horus.

Seth is the son of Nut and the brother of Osiris, Isis and Nephthys. It is said that Seth murdered his brother Osiris, causing a long, violent fight with his nephew Horus over who should be the earthly ruler. Finally other gods were called to judge and they decided that Horus should rule over the living.

Tomb Raider 4 and Level Editor

In Tomb Raider IV The Last Revelation he mysteriously appeares in the temple of Horus, probably travelling in non-corporeal, accompanied by a swarm of locusts - as said in the prophecy - before assuming his God form as shown in the image. He is invincible, and Lara escapes the temple by dodging his attacks which consist of energy missiles and beams. Once Lara climbs out of the temple, she uses the Amulet of Horus to close a trap door and seal Seth within the temple for all time.

Seth's bolts
He shoots green bolts from his gauntlets, is able to fly and also attack Lara with some very harmful melee attacks such as bouncing or impaling, this attack can be a "finalization" like if Lara's health is too low and she suffers this attack; he will get Lara by her neck and shortly after release. He also has power over the dead and the mythological creatures, and can also possess beings, like he did with Werner von Croy.

Seth destroyed the Armour of Horus, to stop Horus from being summoned by Lara who assembled the armour. The armour was destroyed but the Amulet of Horus was knocked into the surrounding water and retrieved by Lara.

Seth can be playable in the Tomb Raider Level Editor.

Trivia

  • Seth is sometimes mistakenly for Horus by fans.
  • Even if not intended, there are similarities between Seth and Natla, both of them have wings, are able to cast fireballs, are immortal and have power over the dead.
  • Although Seth's name is spelled Seth, it is pronounced Set as it is in real ancient Egypt.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

In Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris Set (sic) is the main villain. Lara Croft has to fight him and his minions with the help of fellow treasure hunter Carter Bell and the ancient Egyptin gods Horos and Isis by trying to resurrect Osiris, the only god of the Egyptian pantheon able to defeat him.
