Game Chronology:
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (or short LCatToO, ToO, or LC2) is the continuation of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. As before it features an isometric game view and multiplayer capabilities, this time for up to four players instead of only two as in GoL.

The game is set in a temple in ancient Egypt. Playable characters besides Lara Croft are rivalling treasure hunter Carter Bell and the ancient Egyptian gods Horus and Isis. The main villain is Set, god of the Egyptian underworld, and his minions.

On their way through the temple Lara and her comrades have to overcome a wide range of puzzles and other obstacles like skeletons, beetles and a huge snake. As last time Lara has a wide range of tools and weapons at her disposal, for example the grappling hook, bombs, and her trusted dual pistols. The other playable characters each feature their own set of weapons and tools, e.g. the Staff of Osiris.

A trailer published at E3 2014 shows a variety of different enemies and puzzles.

There is also Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris Gold Edition, which is the physical copy of the game including some special items.

Story

Lara Croft, famed explorer, thought she would be first to arrive at the temple, but up-and-coming archaeologist Carter Bell beat her to the entrance. They each hoped to find the mythical Staff of Osiris, but they discovered more than they bargained for.

The Temple was a prison for Horus and Isis, the last of the old gods not bound to Set. Seeing the Staff, Carter removed it from a mechanism, setting off the trap meant to keep Horus and Isis imprisoned. Lara and Carter now find themselves marked for death. Horus and Isis, freed from thousands of years in prison and in possession of the staff, promise Carter and Lara they will help them resurrect Osiris, the only god capable of saving Lara and Carter from judgement, and the only power that can hope to defeat Set. With a common goal of finding the fragments of Osiris, and stopping the return of Set, the companions form an alliance.

As they fight their way across the sands, they must face gods and monsters of myth and legend driven mad and controlled by Set. At stake is the fate of the world, as Set marshals his powers in order to return and reclaim his throne in the world of the living, with an army of the dead behind him. Set knows the prophecy has come, intent on remaking the world in his own image, a nightmare of storms and death.

Co-Op Multiplayer

The game features an extensive multiplayer mode: As with the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, it is possible to play the game on your own, but the more players join Lara in her fight against Set, the more complex the puzzles get. To solve them the special abilities of the different characters will be needed. Also, it is possible to combine local sessions with networked gaming, e.g. two players can play locally on one console while two other players log in to the gaming session from a networked console. [2] Unlike in GoL players can seamlessly join and leave multiplayer games without the need of restarting the current session.

On Windows PCs using the Steam version of the game, local multiplayer games for two persons is available. Besides the keyboard the game supports up to two Xbox 360 Controllers; other gamepads like the PlayStation 4's DualShock 4 that do not support Xinput do not seem to work as desired and need an additional Xinput Wrapper.

The following reason for adding it to the list has been given: This list is incomplete; there are far too many weapons in ToO. Further reasons might be found on the "discussion page". --Wile E. Coyote (talk) 08:54, 29 October 2015 (CET)
