He is a Nobel Prize-winning scientist and the world's foremost supplier of biological weapons. In the context of the film, he branched out into archaeology and seeks Pandora's Box which he plans to sell as an ordinary biological weapon to the highest bidder, such that when its evil is unleashed, the world will blame his clients instead of him. He hired the Shay-Ling to steal the Orb from Lara Croft.
