Tomb Raider (2013)

Comics Comic Issue 13

Japan is one of the locations Lara visits in Tomb Raider Legend, in Comic Issue 13 and in Tomb Raider (2013).

Tomb Raider Legend

Lara discovers that the ceremonial sword fragment she discovers in Peru connects an artifact she's long been searching for with the piece that James Rutland posesses and another piece recently stolen from a museum in Japan. Lara travels to Tokyo to meet with Yakuza crimelord Shogo Takamoto as he is in posession of the stolen fragment of the sword. Takamoto suggests meeting on neutral territory at Toru Nishimura's corporate party, not realising he is an old friend of Lara's. Lara's intention is to meet with Takamoto and convince him to part with the stolen relic, one way or another.

Tomb Raider (2013)

In Tomb Raider (2013) Lara is shipwrecked on an island off the coast of Japan called Yamatai. The buildings on the islands partly resemble Japanese temples and pagodas. Karl Stewart and Brian Horton mentioned in an interview that the development team went to Japan to get a feeling for the architecture and culture.
