Gate of the Dead is the sixteenth level in Tomb Raider Underworld and the first in the Jan Mayen Island Section. The title of the level refers to Valgrind.

Objective
- Drive down to Valgrind, the gate into Valhalla.
- Place the energy stones into the receptacles of the tower.
- Align the blue symbol on each of the four levels of the tower to activate the four energy beams to open Valgrind.

The level contains 5 Health Packs.
Enemies
- The only opponents in this level are the Viking thralls. They can be run over with the motorcycle.
Traps & Obstacles
Rewards
For racing the bike from top to the bottom in under 50 seconds PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers can get the trophy/achievement Speed Demon II.
As there are many thralls to run over, it is also a good spot to try Roadkiller and Master Roadkiller.
