Most often the common spike trap is found as a floor trap, where the spikes are simply protruding from the ground. These can be hidden, ready to shoot out when Lara steps onto the area.
In seldom cases these spikes can protrude from the ceiling or the walls.

- There are "tunnels" of spike traps where spikes come out of the floor, ceiling and walls. (Deadly when extended, else harmless.)
- Spike Pit
Occurrence
In some cases, in the Classic Tomb Raider Games, to avoid getting hurt, Lara can walk through the spikes and emerge unscathed. But if she falls in the spikes, Lara will instantly die as the spikes impale her.
