Breakable Vases are found in many of the Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Games.
In most games these have to be shot, but there are also instances where Lara can kick them to break them. In most cases these hide goodies but they can also serve as triggers for events; such cases are rather found in Custom Levels.

Strategy
Since Lara was unable to perform kicks in the Classic Tomb Raiders, she has to rely on shooting those vases. When they are on the same level as Lara, she can simply shoot them using her regular pistols, everything else would be a waste of ammunition. But sometimes, when vases are on high up ledges for example, it is necessary to use the Crossbow or Revolver in combination with the Lasersight.
