The Bear is an opponent from the original Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider Anniversary. They can be found in the Peru sections.
If you cannot get anywhere where the bear can't reach you, use the Shotgun. The bear does a lot of damage if he gets you. Try shooting him from somewhere above if possible. In that case Pistols will suffice. You will meet bears in Caves and City of Vilcabamba.
In theTomb Raider 2 PC expansion pack [[The Golden Mask] there are 2 polar bears in the icy caverns on the level Furnace of the Gods.
