Lara can come here during the exploration of the Ghetto to exchange [[Pawn Items]] for [[Money]]. The cut scene that follows the first visit is the first time Lara sees [[Eckhardt]]. He exits the shop and doesn't pay attention to Lara, but she understands that the man is hiding something.

As soon as she goes to [[Bouchard's Hideout]] via the [[St. Aicard's Graveyard|Graveyard]], she cannot come back here to trade, as after returning from the hideout, [[Daniel Rennes]] has been killed. She needs to pick up the goods from the vault, but this will trigger a bomb planted by the [[Cabal]]. Lara has to escape through the vents. When storming out of the vent, she will be observed by a smoking [[Kurtis Trent]].

==Biography==
Kurtis was born on June 26, [[1972]] in Utah Salt Flats, USA.

He is an ex-Legionnaire and also an experienced warrior with limited occult abilities. From the age of three, he was trained as an initiate in an ancient order called the [[Lux Veritatis]] by his father, Konstantin. At the age of 19, however, he disappeared to join the Foreign Legion and changed his surname to Trent. Here, he adopted the nickname 'Demon Hunter' after being constantly assaulted by bizarre events linked to the occult.

He left the Foreign Legion in 1996, and began freelancing with a variety of mercenary and semi-legal agencies under the direction of Marten Gunderson.

In 2001, just before the events of Angel of Darkness, his father is murdered by Eckhardt. It is here that Kurtis takes on his father's role as the last surviving member of the Order. He is now on a quest for revenge against those that wiped out the Order and killed his father.
 

==In the game==
Lara's first contact with Kurtis in the game is in the [[Café Metro]], where he is sitting at a table in a corner. He doesn't speak to her. Their next encounter is in front of the [[Serpent Rouge]], where he flees on his motorbike. Lara doesn't see him again until after the explosion in the [[Pawn Shop]]. He is sitting on a jetty, smoking a cigarette. Again, she isn't able to talk to him. She meets him again in the Louvre, where, in a very tense scene, he disarms Lara and steals her Obscura Painting.

After chasing Kurtis out of the Louvre, Lara is knocked unconscious by a guard. She wakes up to find Kurtis gone and a crystal shard on the ground beside her, which she pockets. Her next meeting with Kurtis takes place in the [[Strahov]] in Prague. He tells Lara that she has made a mess and that he has to correct her mistake by turning the power back on, although not before Lara taunts him with the crystal shard.

The player then takes control of Kurtis in three levels ([[The Sanitarium]], [[Maximum Containment Area]] & [[Boaz Returns]]).

After their meeting in Prague, Kurtis and Lara decide to team up in an attempt to stop Eckhardt. Coming from the [[Vault of Trophies]], Lara finds that Eckhardt has captured Kurtis. She gives Eckhardt the last Obscura Painting in exchange for Kurtis' life, and then the pair are left to the mercy of the mutant creature [[Boaz]].

Using his psychic boost, Kurtis helps Lara to safety and faces Boaz alone. After a gruesome fight, Kurtis defeats his opponent, but is mortally wounded after being stabbed through the stomach.

In the final cutscene, Lara discovers Kurtis' Chirugai lying in a suspiciously large pool of blood. She picks it up, and it directs her towards a nearby doorway, perhaps indicating that Kurtis is still alive and able to wield it.

==Fate==
There has been much speculation about the apparent death of Kurtis. According to an official interview with Adrian Smith, a part had already been written for his character in the planned second and third games of the Angel of Darkness trilogy. A cliffhanger was introduced regarding Kurtis' ultimate fate at the end of the first game as an insurance policy, depending on fan reaction towards his character.

Theories about his fate are varied. However, as Eidos initially planned to continue the Angel of Darkness story into two more games, it is likely he was supposed to survive, however, he has not appeared been since Angel of Darkness.

==Response==
Although receiving generally poor reviews from the gaming media, Angel of Darkness has inspired quite a number of fanfiction continuations and spin-offs, many focused around or including the character of Kurtis Trent. There is also [http://www.fanfiction.net/communities/game/Tomb_Raider/ a C2 community on fanfiction.net] dedicated to the Lara/Kurtis relationship.

Kurtis has gained a number of fans, both male and female, since the release of Angel of Darkness. Most are members of the KTEB (Kurtis Trent Estrogen Brigade) an online Kurtis fanclub. The phrase '[http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=estrogen%20brigade estrogen brigade]' comes from a popular internet trend for naming fan clubs of (predominantly) female membership, although this has become somewhat of a misnomer as a variety of males consider themselves members of the group.

The KTEB's mission is to promote the merits of Kurtis and, to a lesser extent, the game that he is featured in - namely, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. Their efforts have helped Kurtis be voted the [http://4thegirlgamers.blogspot.com/2006/06/top-ten-hottest-video-game-guys.html 8th hottest male video game character] in a poll by [http://4thegirlgamers.blogspot.com/ TheGirlGamer.net]. She lives in Prague and works at the Corrective and Remedial Surgery at the Strahov Psychiatric Institute, also in Prague. In [[1987]] she survived a terrible plane crash, today she is still wearing the marks of this incident.

[[Eckhardt]] ordered her to destroy the [[Proto Nephilim]] as it was highly dangerous but Boaz failed to do so because she needed Eckhardt's [[Periapt Shard]]. She confesses to him she did not kill the Proto Nephilim and therefore Eckhardt feeds her to a mutant spider creature. She later returns in the form of [[Spider Boaz]].

RE '''headings''', they should be hierarchical as in a proper document. So the top level heading is your page title, then your main sections are the "second level" headings, subsections are "third level" and so on. As you know, headings are marked up using the = character. The number of these used before the actual heading text gives the level of the heading. You get the top level heading or title for free so all headings added in the page body should be done with two equalses or greater so that they sit ''under'' the title in the hierarchy. It is first available in [[Galleries Under Siege]], carried by [[Marten Gunderson]]'s mercenaries (and then again in other levels where they feature, for example [[The Strahov Fortress]]). This weapon is possibly one of best in AOD. It fires a lethal hail of 9mm lead at a blazing rate of fire, has a generous 30-shot clip, and is accurate at long range. There are also numerous pickups available for it.

Calibre: 9mm.

Rate of Fire: Single shot, semiautomatic and full auto.

Efficiency: Long range.

Ammo Type: Mag Vega Clip. 30 rounds.

Attachments: Optical silencer & laser sight.

Lara must access [[Mathias Vasiley]]'s apartment through the sewers that run underneath the courtyard. Vasiley's building consists of several corridors of backrooms that leads onto a grand entrance hall decorated in Art Nouveau style. Lara must access his office that is hidden beneath the floor, retrieve the last [[Obscura Engraving]] and get some more information on the [[Nephilim]], the [[Periapt Shards]] and the [[Sanglyph]].

In this level Lara meets [[Luddick]], a Czech newspaper reporter who can help her gain access to the [[Strahov]].

The '''Mag Vega''' is an assault rifle modelled on the AK47 and found the Angel of Darkness. It is first available in [[Galleries Under Siege]], carried by [[Marten Gunderson]]'s mercenaries (and then again in other levels where they feature, for example [[The Strahov Fortress]]. This weapon is possibly one of best in AOD. It fires a lethal hail of 9mm lead at a blazing rate of fire, has a generous 30-shot clip, and is accurate at long range.

Calibre: 9mm.

Rate of Fire: Single shot, semiautomatic and full auto.

Efficiency: Long range.

Ammo Type: Mag Vega Clip. 30 rounds.

Attachments: Optical silencer & laser sight.

She is in a yard outside and has to find a way to the other side of the building. Her path leads her up to the roof.

She has to collect a [[crowbar]] to continue.

In this level she will also find a [[M-V9]] and the first [[Power Up]].

There are just two baddies, a chained [[dog]] and a [[guard]] on which Lara can practice her Stealth Attack.

There is also one [[key]], the [[Gantry Gate Key]], to pick up.

Lara can climb down on the other side of the roof to find her way to the [[Derelict Apartment Block]].

Lara has been framed for a crime she did not commit, the murder of [[Werner VonCroy]]. She is now on the run from the police. In the last scene before the level starts, a pack of dogs has taken Lara's [[backpack]] from her. Leaving her gearless in the Parisian back streets.
